Assignment 1: Micro Elements

Discussion of micro elements of film:

Cinematography (Camera work)

This means how the camera is moved.

Movement:

Tilt (Pivot up and down)

Crane (Moves up and down or left and right quite fluently)

Pan (Pivot left and right)

Track (Move forward and back and left or right)

Angles:

High angle (Birds eye view, aerial shots)

Looking down (Making someone look vulnerable)

Low angle (Worms eye view)

Looking up (Making someone appear powerful)

Example of angles being used:

When Peg first spots Edward coming out the dark in his house a low angle was used to make him appear powerful and fearful.

Sound:

Diegetic- Sound in the world of the film

-Birds

- Car

- Dialog

Non diegetic- Only the audience can here

- Music

- Narration
